Directions
To make cream cheese filling
In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Refrigerate while you make the apple pie filling.
To make apple pie filling
In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced apples and cook for about 5 minutes. Add in brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and water. Continue to cook until the apples are soft and a sauce forms. Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl.
To assemble rangoons
To assemble, place about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese filling and 1 teaspoon of apple pie filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Wet all 4 sides with water and fold the wrapper diagonally. Bring in the remaining 2 sides, making sure there are no holes to prevent the filling from spilling out. Repeat with all the wonton wrappers.
Frying and serving rangoons
In a medium pot, heat the oil until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
Drop in the wontons in small batches to not crowd the pan.
Fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat until all the wontons are fried. Dip in cinnamon sugar and serve with caramel sauce. Enjoy!
