Sweet honey bun cake are a sweet and delightful treat that combines the flavors of classic honey buns with the convenience of a handheld bar shaped treat. Imagine a rich, buttery cake-like base with a hint of honey, all baked into a rectangular shape. Once cooled, the bars are generously topped with a smooth, creamy icing that often includes powdered sugar, cream and maple syrup, with a touch of vanilla and almond for extra flavor. The result is a soft, slightly sticky, and decadently sweet bar that’s perfect for snacking or sharing. The icing adds a satisfying sweetness that complements the subtle honey flavor of the bars, making them irresistible to anyone with a sweet tooth.

Make the cinnamon sugar
In a small bowl, combine the MR. SUGAR Cinnamon Sugar blend, brown sugar, and nutmeg.
Make the batter
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, mix the butter and granulated sugar with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Slowly add in the eggs, mixing until fully incorporated, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the buttermilk, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture slowly ensuring everything is well incorporated.
Pour half of the batter into the baking dish, add half of the cinnamon sugar, and then the remaining batter.
Take a knife and lightly swirl the batter. Bake for about 1 hour, until the bars are slightly golden brown. Remove from the oven, then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar on top.
Make the glaze
Mix the powdered sugar, heavy cream, maple syrup, and vanilla bean paste in a small bowl (Honey is optional). Brush it on top of the warm bars after baking. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing. Enjoy!
